Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Botswana Police Service ("BPS") e-Services Portal ("Portal"). By using this Portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and any additional notices that may be published on the Portal from time to time.
1. Ownership and Purpose
The Portal is operated on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Botswana through the Botswana Police Service. It is provided to facilitate secure electronic access to selected police services, including the submission of applications, enquiries and related documentation.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Portal only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms of Use. In particular, you agree that you will not:
- Provide false, misleading or fraudulent information when registering or submitting applications;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Portal, its systems or related infrastructure;
- Interfere with or disrupt the availability, security or performance of the Portal;
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, offensive or infringes the rights of others;
- Use the Portal in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden or impair any BPS or Government systems.
3. Information You Provide
You may be required to provide certain personal or organisational information in order to use the Portal. You confirm that all information provided is accurate and complete and that you have the authority to provide such information.
You acknowledge that BPS and the Government may use the information you provide for the purposes described in these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, including:
- Processing and delivering requested services;
- Improving service offering and delivery;
- Communicating about Government and BPS services and related activities which may be of interest to you;
- Registry upkeep and record management as may be applicable.
4. Confidential and Sensitive Information
1. You consent to share with Government and BPS the personal information and, where applicable, organisational information necessary to provide the requested service.
2. The information shared may be of a general or specific nature depending on the services required. Government reserves the right to verify any information provided.
3. No trade secrets, intellectual property or confidential information should be submitted through the Portal unless expressly requested. Where there is a need for further contracting of any form, appropriate written agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, may be put in place.
5. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
While BPS and the Government take reasonable steps to ensure that information on the Portal is accurate and up to date, the Portal and its contents are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. No warranty, whether express or implied, is given regarding:
- The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Portal;
- The completeness, accuracy or reliability of any information, forms or materials made available;
- Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on information obtained via the Portal.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BPS, the Government, its agents and officers shall not be liable for any claims, damages or losses of any kind (including, without limitation, indirect, consequential or punitive damages) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Portal, any delay or inability to use the Portal, or any information exchanged pursuant to these Terms of Use.
6. Security
BPS and the Government implement appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard information collected online. However, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, using strong passwords, and logging out after each session. You must immediately notify BPS if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
7. Cookies and Analytics
The Portal may use cookies and similar technologies to support essential functionality, enhance user experience and collect aggregated usage statistics. You may adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, but some features of the Portal may not function properly as a result.
8. Changes to the Portal and Terms
Government may update or modify the Portal, its content or these Terms of Use from time to time as may be necessary. Any material changes will be posted on the Portal and will take effect from the date of publication, unless otherwise indicated.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana. By using the Portal, you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Botswana in relation to any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Portal.
10. Acceptance
By accessing or using this Portal, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. This agreement shall be binding upon you and, where applicable, your heirs, successors, representatives and assigns.
